Yours, actually.
Most business software is a rental. YATR runs on your server, holds your data, and answers to your keys. Here's why that matters more than any feature list.
The Thesis
No landlord in your business software
When your software is rented, you have a landlord. The landlord can raise the rent, and does. The landlord can remodel while you're living there — move the tools you use every day, retire the ones you built your routine around. The landlord can read the books, because the books live in the landlord's building. And if the landlord's company gets acquired, shut down, or just decides your account "violates terms," the doors lock with your business inside.
None of that is a bug in SaaS. It's the business model. The subscription only makes sense if leaving is painful.
YATR takes the opposite bet: you own it. The software runs on a machine you control. The database sits on your disk. The payments settle to accounts you hold. We can't raise your rent, because there is no rent. We can't lock you out, because we don't have the keys — you do.
Your server
YATR installs on hardware or hosting you choose — the closet, a rented box, wherever. It doesn't phone home for permission to start. Nobody can turn it off but you.
one machine · one command · yours
Your data
Customers, invoices, inventory, hours — all of it lives in your database, on your disk. Export everything, any time, in open formats. No ransom, no "contact support to close your account."
your disk · open formats · full export
Your keys
Payments settle to accounts you control — including Bitcoin over Lightning, straight to your node if you run one. No custodian sitting between you and money you already earned.
non-custodial · no middleman · no float

The Stress Test
What happens if we vanish?
Ask this question about every piece of software your business depends on. For most of them, the honest answer is: you lose everything on someone else's schedule.
Ask it about YATR and the answer is: nothing happens. Your install keeps running. Your data stays on your disk. Your invoices still go out and your payments still land, because none of it ever routed through us. The source is free and open, so anyone — you, a local dev, the community — can keep it patched and moving.
We intend to stick around. But you shouldn't have to take our word for it, and with YATR you don't. Software you own doesn't need the vendor to survive. That's the whole test of ownership, and it's the one we designed for.
YATR is ⚡ Lightning-native for those who want it. Accept Bitcoin with no third-party processor, no 3% cut, no chargebacks — settled to your own node. Entirely opt-in; cards and cash work great too.
We built YATR because every tool we tried was built for someone else. Too expensive. Too complicated. Too many features we'd never use, and missing the ones we needed every day. So we built our own — not as a startup, but as a service company that needed better software to run our business. YATR is opinionated because the best tools are. It does what you need. It skips what you don't. And your data stays yours — always.

What does YATR stand for? Officially, nothing. But the suggestion we’ve never been able to turn down: You Are The Revolution.
